Dr Mc Kenna Cup 2007 Launch

The 2007 ‘Gaelic Life’ Dr McKenna Cup was officially launched on Monday 30th October 2006 in the Armagh City Hotel. The launch was compered by Ulster Council Operations Manager, Stephen McGeehan and was attended by a number of provincial, county and college representatives. Inter County managers including Mickey Harte, Brian McIver and Paddy Crozier were also in attendance.

In his opening address, Uachtarán Comhairle Uladh, Miceál Greenan stated
“The Dr McKenna Cup is now a well supported competition with almost 20,000 in attendance at last year’s semi-final an indication of the popularity of the event. We, at the Ulster Council, are delighted to have ‘Gaelic Life’ on board for the 2007 competition. It gives me great pleasure today to officially launch the ‘Gaelic Life’ Dr McKenna Cup”.

Dominic McClements, General Manager of North West of Ireland Printing & Publishing Ltd commented:

“We intend to launch a new publication ‘Gaelic Life’ in early 2007 to complement the current media coverage already provided…..We are privileged to have our company associated with the Dr McKenna Cup, a competition that is now viewed as a stepping stone for the season ahead. We wish all teams all the best for the 2007 campaign”.

Comhairle Uladh Runai, Danny Murphy outlined the groups and fixtures for the forthcoming competition. He also outlined the possibility of a number of matches being played under lights.
