FRIENDS of 22-year-old Brendan 'Barney' McGee flocked to the young man's Bebo page this week to pay tribute to the young hurler who took his own life at the weekend.
On the page, Brendan is pictured along side his fiancee Wendy McColgan, who he describes as "The other half of me".
And while the Brendan was laid to rest yesterday (Wednesday), neighbours from the Carlton Drive area where he grew up, friends and family continued to record their own personal farewells to the popular young man.
One moving tribute read: " I coudn't believe this when I heard it today, I hadn't seen you in so many years and then we met a few weeks ago again when you came out to tech. You will be dearly missed and never forgotton, RIP xxx."
GOODBYE
Meanwhile another friend took time to say goodbye, saying: "We grew up together, drank together and will be very dearly missed not by me alone but by everyone who knew him! God bless Wendy and his family who I am sure will miss him the most. Brendan, you were a great friend that will never be replaced, for now I have to say bye, but I'm sure we'll meet again."
Brendan's sporting friends also posted their heartfelt comments.
One read: "The Shamrocks defence will never be the same without you lad".
In a further moving farewell, a friend of the young man's added: " Barney can't believe we'll never see you again wee man, you may be gone but you will always be in our hearts lad. RIP Barney and look over us all up there. Only one word to describe you, LEGEND. See you when I get there lad. Always in our thoughts".
