STRABANE
U3A
Preparing for Christmas was the theme behind the talks and demonstrations at the two most recent social evenings held by the Strabane Third age group, Strabane U3A.
Firstly, Johnny from New Horizons, the garden centre associated with Glenside Adult Training Centre off the Derry Road, demonstrated with shrubs and plants suitable and more importantly available for the festive season.
Then it was the turn of Donna from Donna's Flower Box in Abercorn Square, who gave a most enjoyable demonstration of seasonal floral arrangements.
Chairman, Sally Moss presided at both demonstrations held in the Day Centre, Barrack Street, during the Club's monthly social evenings held on the third Thursday and President, James Thompson, proposed the vote of thanks.
But the December social will be earlier in the month, Thursday December 13 at 7.30pm because of the Christmas holidays and the attendance should be double because each member will be entitled to bring a guest in the hope that he or she may become future members.
The evening will have a festive party atmosphere including a buffet supper and traditional entertainment. Before that some members will have paid a visit to Dublin, or to the Assembly in Stormont, as part of a series of day trips being organised by the committee.
Art classes, choral, bridge and drama sessions continue at the heart of Strbane U3As varied monthly programme for its members.
