Yesterday marked the end of an era for Strabane when the front facade of the former St Colman’s High School was demolished. Our photographer captured the moment when the diggers moved in to remove the last building standing. The gable wall of St Colman’s, which opened its doors in 1958, was one of the most recognisable features in the town. Fifty years on, Strabane is now home to the magnificent Holy Cross College, which amalgamated St Colman’s, Our Lady of Mercy and the Convent Grammar.
