LAST Wednesday saw the Strabane branch of St Vincent De Paul launch their bumper fundraiser Who Wants to be a Thousandaire?
The hugely popular game will take place in the Melmount Centre on Saturday, October 20.
Since being launched five years ago, Who Wants to be a Thousandaire has become the most popular source of fundraising for charities and clubs throughout Ireland.
The show itself is fully computerised with 50/50, Ask the Audience and a video linked Phone a Friend. The questions and four possible answers are displayed on two 8ft x 6ft screens, one at each side of the stage.
The fundraiser is being provided by Pallas Marketing and the main sponsor is The Devine Group. The firsty ticket was purchased by Mrs Mamie Quigley.
Commenting on the big charity night, St Vincent De Paul area president Martin French said: "We have been in contact with several other groups who ran Who Wants to be a Thousandaire around the country with great success. We are all looking forward to a great night on October 20 as the show is really hi-tech and offers a superb night's entertainment. The show is timed to start 8pm and we would encourage people to come early to ensure a seat. We would also like to say a particular word of thanks to our main sponsor, Sean Devine of The Devine Group and to all those who have taken out advertising at the show," he said.
Tickets for Who Wants to be a Thousandaire are £10 and are available from any member of the fundraising committee, from the local St Vincent de Paul shop on Barrack Street, by telephoning 02871 384488 or at the door on the night.
