Clann na nGael.....1-7
Moy...........1-10
The Division Two League title race is set to go the distance after Moy disposed of Clan Na Gael on Sunday afternoon.
In doing so Moy have closed the gap on the current Intermediate League leaders to five points, and with four games remaining, they can still win the title. Trillick and Clan Na nGael are also in contention for league honours.
All three teams are set to meet each other in the coming weeks, but with Trillick involved in the Ulster Club race, the silverware could well be a welcome Christmas present for the eventual champions.
Moy opened the scoring with two frees from Sean Cavanagh and Karol McQuade, but Clan Na Gael were right back in contention on 8 minutes, when Stephen O'Neill and Sean O'Kane combined to send Stephen McSorley through for a well finished goal.
Moy with the two Cavanagh's Sean and Colm, and Ryan Mellon driving them forward came storming back with four successive points. Cavanagh senior started and ended the scoring sequence with McQuade and Mellon also splitting the posts before the Clansmen registered their first point of the afternoon on 22 minutes via the boot of Adrian Ball.
Moy continued to force the issue and they translated their dominance into a sizable lead on 23 minutes, when Colm Cavanagh fisted a goal past Conor McAleer. Padraig Laverty extended their lead, and while McSorley had the final say of the half, it was Moy, who held a deserving 1-7 to 1-2 interval advantage.
Clan Na Gael were out of the traps quickly on the restart, and three successive frees from McSorley (two) and full forward O'Neill brought them right back into contention. Brendan Conway and Paul Conwell were leading by example as the hosts looked capable of taking control. Moy though were equal to the task and from that point until the final whistle the visitors managed to trade score for score.
McSorley brought his scoring contribution to 1-4 in response to another Sean Cavanagh conversion. Colm Cavanagh and Tommy Conlon kept Moy in the comfort zone, and while O'Neill concluded the scoring it wasn't enough to deny Moy a win that has ensured an excellent climax to the Division Two League race.
