A Douglas Bridge man was fined and had penalty points endorsed on his licence after failing to produce his driving documents.
Strabane Magistrates Court was told on Thursday that on November 25 last year, at 2.00am, police were conducting a vehicle checkpoint at Lifford Road when they stopped the defendant, Michael Barr of Camus Road in Douglas Bridge, driving a Vauxhall Corsa, of which he confirmed ownership. He told police at the time that his licence and insurance documents were at home, and he was ordered to produce within seven days at Strabane PSNI station.
A check on December 23 showed that he had failed to produce the documents, and when police visited his home they were told that he hadn't got the licence yet as he had sent away for it and was told it would take ten working days, and that he was insured under his mothers name.
He was fined £200 and had six penalty points endorsed on his licence for no insurance, and was fined an additional £60 for no licence.
