ONGOING vandalism at the contentious Strabane SCORE site has led to a decision to shut down the local loos.
Strabane Council has taken the decision to shut the toilets citing vandalism, associated rising costs of maintenance and low usage levels.
Council Chairman, Kieran McGuire said it's a prudent decision on behalf of the local authority.
He said public convenience facilities will remain at the Alley, the Library and Butcher Street.
We feel that this is a prudent decision and a decision taken in the best interests of the ratepayer."
Council Chief Executive Philip Faithful said, "We are dedicated to the redevelopment, regeneration and renewal of the Strabane town centre. The Score Site is a key asset, particularly as we are working closely with the Department of Social Development to develop a Master plan for Strabane town centre.
