Angry Head of Town residents to hold public meeting

ANGRY Head of the Town residents are to hold a public meeting next week to discuss the ongoing closure of Strabane's Spout Road.

The Spout Road has been closed for several weeks now, after heavy rainfall prior to Christmas caused a section of the tarmacced surface to shift dangerously close to a nearby embankment.

Anyone hoping to use the road have been re-routed, something that is beginning to have a detrimental effect on local businesses, residents say.

According to those living close to the Spout Road, "Local people can't get out to the countryside to visit family and friends and it is really inconvenient for many commuters"

To rally support to have the road reopened, residents will hold a public meeting next Tuesday night (26th) at 8pm.
