Salons sharpen scissors for big championships

LOCAL hairdressing salons will be sharpening their scissors, getting their tongs, brushes and dryers in top shape for the Northern Ireland Hairdressing Association's Championships.

The event takes place on Monday 29th October at the Hilton Hotel in Belfast.

With the forthcoming World Championships in Chicago next Spring, judges will also be looking out for talent to represent the North.

As one of the largest championships around for both ladies and gents hairdressers, salons will compete in eleven categories on stage.

Not only will competing salons be all out to see who can win their category but also which stylist can take away the prestigious title of Northern Ireland Champion 2007 and which salon will win the prestigious Northern Ireland Salon of the year award.

The categories in the Denman supported event range from day styles, evening styles and include the unbelievable fantasy category which really has to be seen to be believed.

The team of International and local judges will have a tough time picking their winners if competitions in recent times are anything to go by.

The judges will also be on the look out for team members for the International team"

Junior stylists are particularly encouraged to compete.

To that end the Junior Championships will take place over four of the categories.

Salons should by now have received their entry details.

If not they should contact Ken McClure or Steven Jones at the Kenneth Michael salon in Belfast on 90455740 as the entry date is closing fast.

Doors open at 11.30am for the Junior Competitions and the Senior competitions will go on stage mid afternoon right through to 9pm.

so there will be plenty of opportunity for spectators to see some of the top hairdressing talent in the country.

On Saturday 27th October the association will also hold it's annual ball which will also be at the Hilton. Tickets are also available from Ken or Steven.
