THE Foyle Hospice would like to thank the people of Strabane and the surrounding area for the support given to their annual Flag Day held on Saturday April 28 2007.
A staggering £1,738.94 and 203.89 Euros was raised for the Hospice.
For the past 15 years the annual Flag Day was organised by volunteers, most noteably Bridget McElroy and Brendan French (often co-ordinated from the back of Patsy McElroy's car!) and again this year Bridget was there to help Elish O'Kane, community fundraiser for the Strabane area.
To make it a truly community event, Elish invited the three main schools in the area, and pupils from Strabane High School, Holy Cross College and Strabane Grammar School together raised £698.26 and 45.73 Euros of the total.
Two Grammar school pupils in particular, Christine McMullan and Ashley Nicholl, will be remembered for their "fun"raising activities!
The Post Office workers were also "out standing" and their continued support is a credit to their team manager, Martin Duffy, whose team collected £315.70 and 24.39 Euros of the total.
The Foyle Hospice is endebted to all the volunteers who took part, a total of 45 people giving their time and effort.
Elish O'Kane and the Foyle Hospice say "Thank You."
