Under-16s 'Urn' their second title in three years

Urnaí's under 16 panel who lifted the Under-16 League title with victory over Brocagh.

URNEY..........1-09

BROCAGH.....0-08

URNEY continued their good record in this competition, winning it for the second time in three years.

It didn't start too well for the Urney lads, as Brocagh came out with all guns blazing and raced into a four point lead.

Urney finally got on the score sheet after ten minutes, when Sean McGowan pointed from a free.

This settled Urney and they started to play the better football. They were awarded for their hard work when Marty Hegarty slotted over from 20 yards.

TIGHT

It was all very tight, with both sides missing scoreable chances. It swung in Urney's favour a minute before half time when a great ball from Ryan Brolly to Kevin Hegarty saw him chip the advancing goalkeeper to score a great goal. Another free from Sean McGowan saw Urney lead by two points at half time.

Brocagh started the second hall very well and scored two quick Hegarty points to leave the match all square.

A surging run by Marty Hegarty put Urney a point up. Further points from Ryan Brolly and Barry McAleer put Urney three up. It got better for Urney when Brocagh got a man sent off. Instead of pushing on Urney seemed to relax.

This spurned Brocagh on and they scored two quick points.

The next ten minutes was backs to the wall, but the rear guard held tight and Urney's Ryan Brolly put one over to leave them two up.

VICTORY

With minutes remaining, Sean McGowan added two more crucial points to seal the victory. A great victory for the young lads, which was fully deserved as they have worked very hard all season.
