Irish scholars lead the way to success in Sion Mills

They say that nothing succeeds like success or, in the case of Pobal Mhuileann an tSiáin, the Irish language group in Sion Mills, nothing succeeds like a succession of successes.

As a recognised outreach centre for the North West Regional College and National University of Ireland, Galway, the Sion Mills group has enjoyed success year after year for some time now. Our students have excelled in Irish language at all levels from GCSE, AS, A2 to Dioplóma Level, making our classes the obvious choice for those hoping to advance their knowledge of our own native tongue.

This year, like their predecessors, our students anxiously waited with bated breath for their results and just rewards after their months of study to learn that they too have added to this list of successes. Out of a GCSE class of 11, we had six A* grades, three A grades and two C grades.

We are extremely proud of all our students and their achievements and we would like to congratulate them all. We are delighted and immensely proud too of Gaelscoil Uí Dhochartaigh children from Primary 7 who all received A* at GCSE. They are great ambassadors for their school and our native language.

Comhghairdeas libh go léir!

Antaine Ó Fearghail
