SIX penalty points were awarded to a Strabane man who drove a tractor without insurance, by Strabane Magistrates Court last Thursday.
On June 23 this year at 5.08pm, Police on patrol at Abercorn Square, Strabane, witnessed a Fiat tractor pulling a trailer containing a mini-digger. They noted that the mini-digger was not secured in any way and they pulled the driver, Stephen Maxwell of Town Parks, Strabane, over.
When police requested Maxwell's documents, he admitted not having insurance. He told them he had had the vehicle for eight or nine years and it was used mainly on the family farm.
For driving without insurance, RM Mr Liam McNally handed down six penalty points and fined Maxwell £250. For towing the mini-digger while it was unsecured, a further fine of £150 was imposed.
