TWO CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD AT STRABANE COURT
Two people were convicted at Strabane Magistrates' Court yesterday for claiming money they were not entitled to.
Martin Foster (43), of Young Crescent, Castlederg, claimed Income Support totalling £9,477 while failing to declare he had capital. He was given a four month prison sentence suspended for two years and fined £250.
He also has to repay the money he wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
Mary Gallen (30), of Melmount Park, Strabane, claimed Income Support totalling £1,133 while failing to declare she was living with her partner. She was given a conditional discharge for two years and ordered to repay the money she wrongfully claimed to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 345 the total number of successfully prosecutions this year.
