SINN FEIN Councillor Gerard Foley says that he is lobbying the DRD Lighting section to investigate and remedy the source of the problem which is leading to continued black outs of the street lighting in Main Street, Dublin Street and Townhall Street areas of Newtownstewart.

Cllr Foley said, "I have been approached by residents of Newtown about this ongoing problem of the street lighting blacking out in the Main Street, Dublin Street and Townhall Street areas of the town.

"These street lighting black outs are happening in these streets on an alternative basis.

"The lighting fails on one of the aforementioned streets and as soon as it has been reported and fixed it fails on another one of these streets.

"It is clear that there is some underlying problem with the street lighting in this area.

"I have now contacted the DRD Lighting Section asking them to investigate and remedy the source of this underlying problem once and for all."
