"I'd urge anyone out there to seriously consider registering as a donor, and those who have filled in a donor card or filed on the donor register to also inform their family so that they know what their wishes are, so that should such a situation arise then they can help others."

He concluded, "Two out of three people on this programme are going to fail, in a competition, where the decision is based upon replies to questions and interviews with the contestants families.

"How do you think they're going to feel if they miss out on the chance of a lifetime, of potentially saving their own life, because they didn't perform well enough? It's wrong."
