STRABANE Chamber of Commerce has called a special meeting of traders in the town over the proposed depedestrianisation of Castle Street.
The Chamber's President, Martin French, has said there are many issues which need to be resolved, and the specially convened meeting will allow affected traders to air their views.
"The issue of the depedestrianisation of Castle Street is a mater that is of huge significance to both the traders of this area and those customers who enjoy shopping in the town centre.
"It is clearly a highly emotive subject for all stakeholders, including statutory bodies, therefore any decision on the future of Castle Street must be based on the opinions of all interested parties."
Mr French said the Chamber has already been in consultation with the DoE Roads Service in relation to the matter.
"Strabane Chamber is fully committed to ensuring that the focus of these discussions take all opinions into account. We will continue to liaise with traders, DoE Roads, Strabane Council, and most importantly the customers that continue to shop in the town centre, ensuring that all voices are heard.
"We will ensure that the matter is dealt with appropriately and efficiently and will continue to promote what is best for the town of Strabane," added the President.
The specially convened meeting will take place at the Chamber offices at Abercorn Square at 6.15pm on Tuesday December 4th.
