OVER 600 dancers performed in the West Tyrone Feis last weekend at the Alley Theatre, Strabane, in what has been described by the organisers as one of the most successful competitions Northern Ireland has ever seen.
Travelling from across Ireland Scotland and England, dancers of all ages made the trip to Strabane to compete in a two day dance competition, which if the attendance figures and quality of dancing is to go by, will be a regular feature on the Feis circuit.
Elizabeth McConomy, Feis organiser, stated, "We have had a wonderful day in the Alley, parents have commented on how intimate the venue is, the stage is perfect for dancing, the restaurant kept everyone's energy going and the dancers had a dream day on stage."
The quality of dancers was extremely high, with world champion, Megan Ryan winning the Under 13 title and Niamh Taylor form Belfast and world champion also scoping the Under 14 title.
Nathan Flatman marketing officer for the Alley added, "The West Tyrone Feis and The Alley Theatre are proud to produce a feis that not only demonstrated the very best of Irish dancing, seeing a number of world champions on display, but also a competition that developed younger talent, showing them how much fun a Feis can be. We are delighted to host such a prestigious event and we look forward to seeing the West Tyrone Feis back in the Alley Theatre next year."
