CONTINUING their commitment to educating young people in Ulster Scots, last Monday saw the start of the second annual Ulster Scots Library Week.
Dozens of primary schools across the North took part in events, which included reading Ulster Scots short stories, speaking the language and having a 'wheen o' crack'.
Initiated with support from SEUPB, the project reached out to some 20 libraries across the North, including Strabane and counties Donegal, Monaghan, Cavan and Louth.
Up to 20 Ulster Scots books are now available in Strabane Library.
The collection includes a recently published educational book written by Wilbert Garvin that tells the story of the Ulster Scots innovators and inventors.

Speaking during Ulster Scots Library Week, a spokesperson said: "The Ulster Scots Agency would like to thank all libraries and schools who took the opportunity to support this project.
"The response was excellent. As compliments from the Ulster Scots Agency, each child will also receive a copy of the 'The Eejits' which is The Twits by Roald Dahl translated into Ulster Scots.
"The agency would also like to remind the children that entries for the language competition must be returned to Franklin House Offices, Belfast by Wednesday, May 21, if they are to be considered for the opportunity to win one of 20 MP3 Players.
"Competition winners and further photographs will be published in the next edition of the Ulster Scots Newsletter," he said.
