In reply to Finntan Mag Uidhir's letter, Finntan you seem to have your head in the sand. The letters printed in the Fermanagh Herald are genuine letters and are a measure of the support or lack of it that Sinn Féin now has in Fermanagh.
If you bothered to go out and about around the county and genuinely listened to people you would find long term Sinn Féin supporters are turning their back on Sinn Féin in their droves.
As for Finntan's, complaint about people using pseudonyms is it any wonder? People are afraid to speak out publicly against the party, myself and Gerry McHugh are a case in point. The journalist who wrote the article about us in the 'Sunday World' told Gerry's wife and children it was senior members of Fermanagh Sinn Féin who were most insistent that they cover the story. I have had so many lies repeated back to me about myself but I refuse to let anyone put me down.
Other people have told us they have been subjected to whispering campaigns, intimidation, verbal abuse and all manner of dirty tricks when they left Sinn Féin.
Those sort of bullying tactics are happening all over the country and there are a lot of people who are afraid to speak out as in the words of one man I spoke to 'I know the animal I'm dealing with' Perhaps Finntan that answers your question as to why people want to criticise Sinn Féin but do not want their names published.
