Security fencing for Urney Road Water Service installation-Sinn Féin
Strabane Sinn Féin Councillor Brian Mc Mahon has welcomed a commitment from the Water Service that it will erect vandal proof security fencing around its installation on the Urney Road after he lobbied for the move on behalf of local residents who are fed up with it being used as a focal point for vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
He said, "This news will be warmly welcomed residents living close to this instillation who have had to endure repeated acts of vandalism and anti-social behaviour in the area since the original fencing at the installation was damaged.
"Unfortunately it has became a focal point and base for such activity by some young people and while it is not normally the policy of Water Service to erect such vandal proof security fencing, Water Service Customer Care Manager David Mc Clean, in his response to me this week, agreed that in this instance the move was warranted given the situation in the area."
