St Davog's form continues to pick up
Aghyaran 2-5
Clonoe 1-8
AGHYARAN'S recent upturn in fortunes continued when they staged a late fight back to grab a point at home to high flying Clonoe on Friday night. Martin Penrose scored 1-2 in the opening half with Johnny McMenamin also on target as they established a narrow lead, Patrick Doris with a couple of Clonoe points with midfielder Stephen McNulty also on target.
Doris took his personal haul to four on the restart before the visitors took the lead when Paul O'Neill shot to the St.Davog's net after Colm Doris had seen his penalty stopped by Michael Connolly. Penrose then had to go off with an ankle injury but he returned towards the end of the game to help his side's comeback. O'Neill was sent off for a second bookable offence but a McNulty point looked like sealing victory for Clonoe. To their credit though Aghyaran kept plugging away and they got their reward when Anthony Devine scored a last minute goal to earn them a draw.
St Mary's shade it
Killyclogher 1-9
Donaghmore 0-11
THESE two sides are neck and neck in the table just above the danger zone and on Friday night there was little between them as well with Killyclogher shading the issue for a crucial victory. Two early Shane Mulgrew scores from frees got the visitors off to the perfect start and despite a further brace from midfielder Daniel Grimes it was the St.Marys who led at halftime with Leo Meenan bagging a goal and Conor and Damian Meenan contributing five points between them.
It took Killyclogher fifteen minutes to open their second half account via Conor Meenan but that was enough to still keep them in front despite Donaghmore points from Mulgrew and Grimes. Leo and Damian Meenan added to Killyclogher's haul and that was sufficient to see them past the winning post despite efforts from Niall McKenna and Stephen McDermott for the visitors.
Dromore finish in style
Kildress 0-8
Dromore 1-11
COUNTY champions Dromore finished this encounter in style as they pulled away from a gallant Kildress side to make it eight wins out of eight and remain joint leaders in the division. Martin Grimes and Des Tracy shared five first half points between them with Colm McCullagh and Shane McMahon on target for the St.Dympna's as the first half ended 0-6 apiece. Treacy took his personal tally to five after the break but the Wolfe Tones failed to register in the final quarter as Dromore went up through the gears.
Emmet O'Neill took a well taken goal, McCullagh added his fourth point of the afternoon and defender Sean O'Neill converted a "45" as the current league champions demonstrated that they aren't going to give up their silverware without a fight as they went back level at the top with Carrickmore who had won twenty four hours earlier.
St Enda's shoot down Errigal
Omagh 3-10
Errigal Ciaran 0-13
OMAGH moved onto double points in the table thanks to this richly deserved win over an Errigal Ciaran side that were experiencing defeat for the first time in half a dozen outings. The St.Enda's laid the foundations for this win in the opening half hour as they surged into a 2-9 to 0-6 lead with Cathal McCarron scoring 1-4, Gary Taggart notching 1-1 and wing half back Dean O'Neill landing a brace of points. Damian McDermott scored all bar one of his side's first half total.
It just wasn't the visitors' night as they lost both Enda McGinley and Eoin Gormley to injury and despite second half points from John Kelly and substitute duo Peter Harte and Aaron Monaghan they never looked like winning the game. Conor McMahon hit Omagh's third goal in the 47th minute and despite not scoring after that they had done enough.
Fianna too strong
Loughmacrory 0-10
Coalisland 2-10
COALISLAND returned to winning ways on Friday night when they proved too strong for a battling Loughmacrory side that fought to the final whistle in pursuit of their second win of the season. The home side made a confident start with Enda Ward, Ronan Ward and defender Noel Kelly kicking first half points but Coalisland hit back with efforts from Martin Early and Gerard Toner with Stephen Curran also bagging a goal.
Brian Toner and Patrick McGlinchey exchanged points with Donal and Benny Ward and with time running out only two points separated the two sides. McGlinchey's second point eased the Fianna's worries before Early settled matters when he kept a cool head to fire to the net past St.Teresa's net minder Mattie O'Brien. This win keeps Coalisland in the top half of the table while Loughmacrory remain second from bottom in the table.
First half damage
Ardboe 0-8
Carrickmore 1-10
ARDBOE went into this game knowing that nothing less than a win would keep their title challenge on track but it was Carrickmore who were the better side on the night as they chalked up win number eight. Ardboe managed to outscore the visitors in the second period but the St.Colmcilles had done the damage in the opening half as they established a healthy 1-6 to 0-3 lead.
Kevin McNally scored half of Carrickmore's first half points with defender Colm McGurk also on target while full forward Mark Donnelly palmed home the only goal of the game, Kyle Coney and Frank McGuigan on target for the Rossas.
In the second half Ardboe at last found their shooting boots with Coney, Nishy O'Neill and Tommy McGuigan all landing points but after a barren spell it was the visitors who ended the contest the stronger of the two sides with Barry Daly and Conor Gormley contributing late points.
