AMUH Asscult accused bailed

Threat to kill charge

A Drumquin man was brought before Strabane Magistrates Court last Thursday to face a series of charges which included criminal damage endangering life, and threatening to kill.

21 year-old Ciaran McMenamin, whose address was given as Willowmount Road, was charged with the offences arising out of an incident which took place on January 31 of this year, and appeared from custody.

In addition to the charges of criminal damage endangering life and threatening to kill another male, he was further charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop at an accident, and failing to report an accident.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Strabane Magistrates Court on March 1, via video link, pending a High Court bail application.

Bail for accused on GBH charge

Police did not oppose bail for a Strabane man who appeared at Omagh Magistrates' Court in custody on Tuesday past charged with grievous bodily harm on a female and with causing criminal damage to numerous household items.

Kevin Hannigan, of Chestnut Park, was released on his own bail of £250 after the court heard that the alleged injured party did not make a statement of complaint against him.

A police officer advised the court that the female in question had severe bruising to her eyes and to both arms as well as a suspected fracture to a bone in her face.

The defendant has been ordered to reside at Chestnut Park. He is not to contact the alleged injured party either directly or indirectly, not enter licences premises, and not consume alcohol. Additionally, he is to report twice weekly to Strabane police station.

No insurance

A Sion Mills man was convicted in his absence at Strabane Magistrates Court last week for the offence of driving without insurance.

20 year-old Giles Neeson, of Seein Park, Sion Mills, failed to appear at court and was convicted on tendered evidence. He was fined £250 and disqualified from driving for six months.
