Adopt a duck for cancer

THE Prostate Cancer Charity is offering a unique opportunity to win £10,000 and be part of a new record breaking fundraising event, The Great British Duck Race.

Claire Carlin, Community Fundraising Manager at The Prostate Cancer Charity says, "If you are looking for a fun and easy way to help break a Guinness World Record, then why not consider adopting a rubber duck to take part in the Great British Duck race for The Prostate Cancer Charity?"

The event hopes to see over 165,000 rubber ducks making the 1km journey along the banks of the River Thames at Hampton Court, Surrey, to secure the Guinness World Record for the world's largest duck race. Each duck adopted and entered into the race will be individually numbered and the owner of the first duck to cross the finish line will win £10,000.

Claire continues, "Adopting a duck for The Prostate Cancer Charity is not only a great way to support our vital work and potentially win £10,000 but it also gives you the chance to be part of a world record breaking team without any of the usual hard work or training.

"Prostate cancer is now the most common form of cancer diagnosed in men in the UK – at least one man every hour dies from this disease. The funds raised from this event will help us continue to help improve the lives of some of the 35,000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer in Britain every year through our research, information and support services.

"We already have a team of over 260 rubber ducks who will be making their way down the River Thames, but it's not too late to get involved and adopt your very own duck."

The Great British Duck Race will take place on September 2. Closing date to adopt a duck is August 31. Ducks cost £2 each plus a suggested donation of £3.
