Irvinestown

Johnny on Talk Show

Popular Youth Club member and talented local footballer, Johnny McGovern, will feature on BBC TV tonight, Wednesday, 9th august at 7.00pm., as he re-lives his busy week playing on the Fermanagh team at the Milk Cup football competitions played last week in the Coleraine area.

Sam at Bawnacre

The prestigious Sam Maguire Cup presented each year to the winners of the All-Ireland senior football competition, will be on display in the Bawnacre, today, Wednesday, 9th August, 2.00 to 9.00pm. , when everyone will have the opportunity to take photographs of their friends or family with the Cup.

Crafts

The popular Annual Arts & Crafts Summer Camp for boys and girls will be held in the Bawnacre every day next week, between 10.00am and 12.00 noon.

Open Tennis

Play continues every day this week in the Annual Fermanagh Junior Open Tennis championships, organised by the Lawn Tennis club on the refurbished Fermanagh District Council Tennis Courts at the Bawnacre. Spectators are welcome to attend at any time. The finals will be played on Saturday.

GFC Meeting

Members of St. Molaise GFC Centenary Committee are requested to attend their next meeting which will be held tonight, Wednesday, 9th August at 9.00pm. , in the Bawnacre. All those who have reserved a table for the Gala Night in the Slieve Russell Hotel on Saturday, 25th November, are requested to pay the next instalment as soon as possible.

Strule Erne

Activities for members of the Strule Erne Day Centre Service will be based in the main Bawnacre building this week because of the tennis championships. The daily service will resume in the Bawnacre Pavilion next Monday.

New pitch opening

Fermanagh District Council re-opened their lower pitch at the Bawnacre last Tueday night. It follows a year long refurbishment scheme to instal a new drainage system and the provision of a new sand-based playing surface. After the opening ceremony the pitch was the venue for the Annual Kennedy Charity Cup Final between Tummery Athletic and Enniskillen Town. Exactly one year ago, on 8th August, 2005, the Council re-opened the top pitch, also after a major refurbishment scheme. In the past yea,r not a single match had to be postponed on the pitch due to weather conditions.

Courts available

The recently refurbished four all-weather District Council Tennis Courts at the Bawnacre are now in excellent condition and will be available for members of the public to use again on and from Monday of next week, 14th August. Advance booking is essential and racquets and tennis balls can be obtained at the Bawnacre.

Charity Quiz

Calling all Quizz addicts to attend a Pub Quiz in support of the Trocaire Nicaragua Appeal to be held in Floyd's Lounge Bar, Mill Street, this Wednesday night, 9th August, commencing at 9. 30 pm. Entry fee will be £10 per table. A raffle will be held during the Quiz and your attendance would be greatly appreciated.

KinawleyFarewell Dance

St. Naile's Parish Committee have a social and farewell dance for Fr. Gerry in St. Naile's Hall this Friday night, 11th August, with music by "The Lakelanders". There will be bar facilities in the hall. Teas will also be served. Admission : £5 maximum. Children free and everyone welcome.

Marble Arch Caves

There will be a special opportunity to visit the Marble Arch Caves on Wednesday, 23rd August. Families and little groups make their own way between 11.00am and 4.00pm. Special discounts for those attending Kinawley Festival. Killesher, Swanlinbar, Derrylin and Teemore people are welcome to join in.

Boat Trip

As part of the Community Festival, there will be a boat trip on Lough Erne on Monday, 21st August. It will leave Kinawley at 10.00am. Anyone interested in going should leave their names in Curry's or Roache's shops as soon as possible. Bring a small lunch. There will be an evening meal and return home for 7.30pm. Cost - £15 per person. First 50 secure places.

Scout thanks

The local Scout Unit thank everyone who participated in the mountain trek from Derrylin to Swanlinbar and the barbecue. Please ensure that sponsorship cards and monies are returned to Kathleen Gilheaney or left in O'Reilly's filling station before this Friday, 11th August.

Priests Society

St. Joseph's young Priests' Society gratefully acknowledge the sum of £1,447.82 from Kinawley Branch for the year ending 30th June. The Society is most appreciative of the collectors and those who subscribed.

Clothes for re-cycling

Brian Borus Football Club have launched a new textile re-cycling programme for the whole community. By donating your old clothes, you will help Oxfam to help people, mainly in Africa, to help themselves. A percentage of the money generated will be distributed to our club. This will be used to purchase equipment to help with training and the development of youth teams. Please note that all clothes including those which are well worn or have holes in them may be donated. The textile bank will be located beside the Credit Union building.
