THE Burnavon Arts and Cultural Centre programme is out now for January to May 2007 and it couldn't be a better time to make that New Year resolution and experience an evening at the theatre.
The free programme is jammed packed with some of the biggest names and acts in the music and entertainment industry, offering something for everyone.
The theatre, conveniently located in the centre of Cookstown with free car parking, makes for an enjoyable carefree evening.
The season kicks off with Stewartstown Dramatic Society bringing to life characters from the classic fairytale Mother Goose. Running at the Burnavon on Fridays and Saturdays from January 5 until Saturday, January 20, this is an ideal family show to help brighten up the long cold month, featuring the usual panto fun. Tickets cost £7 and £5 concession with only a few seats remaining for each performance.
January concludes with two excellent music performances Country Music Showtime, starring country singer Brendan Shine on Thursday, January 25 (tickets £13) and Union Avenue on Friday, January 26 (tickets £15).
February highlights include Love and Maddness thought provoking performance, Playboy of the Western World and Henry V on February 7 and 8 (tickets £8 and £6). Internationally renowned hypnotist Barry Sinclair returns to the theatre on February 9 (tickets £12).
February also sees the return of top country star Hal Ketchum who has sold over four million albums to date and has performed with top artists such as Charley Pride, Johnny Cash and Gareth Brooks appears on Tuesday, February 27 at 8pm (tickets £21). This concert is sure to be a sell out so book your tickets early.
Don't go mad this March let the Burnavon entertain you with the talented singer songwriters, The Hanna Sisters on Thursday, March 1 at 8pm (tickets £12.50 and £10 concession). As part of Cookstown District Council St Patrick's celebrations, More Power To Your Elbow make their debut appearance of the Burnavon with their unique fusion of traditional Irish and celtic rock on Thursday, March 15 (tickets £15).
The Boys' Brigade annual antique fayre returns to the Burnavon on Saturday, March 31 from 10am to 4.30pm offering an opportunity to browse through items such as furniture, jewellery, silverware and much more. Entry is £2 at the door, and children go free.
April showers the Burnavon with a host of performances including 2005's X-Factor runner up, Andy Abraham on Wednesday, April 11 (tickets £20). Not forgetting the kids, Rumplestiltskin on Tuesday, April 24 at 10.15am and 7pm (tickets £5 and £3.50 concession). The month concludes with The Patrick Pierce Motel play by Hugh Leonard on Saturday, April 28 at 8pm (tickets £7 and £5).
The programme provides great nights out over May with Donegal's country singing sensation Deirdre Bonner and Friends on Wednesday, May 2 (tickets £12) and Sperrin Choir presenting Music Of the Night on Friday, May 18 (tickets £7.50 and £5 concession).
