POWERSCREEN International, the world's leading manufacturer of mobile screening, washing and recycling equipment announces a new £3 million investment in their Dungannon-based facility.
Last year, Powerscreen celebrated 40 years in business and turnover was over £125 million, an increase of 20% on the previous year. As the company, which employees 600 people, goes from strength to strength, it has decided to make another major investment in the factory. Two years ago, Powerscreen invested £2 million in a new paint facility which provides a high quality working environment for the skilled operatives producing a quality paint finish, previously unseen in the crushing and screening industry.
Tom Riordan, president and chief operating officer of Terex visited Powerscreen's headquarters on April 2 to officially announce the new investment in brand new cutting facilities. These will allow a quicker turn-around and increased volume production to cope with ever-increasing customer orders.
Alan Gaskin, operations director, said, "I'm delighted we have this investment at the factory. As part of our continuous improvement programme we identified the cutting process as an opportunity to optimise quality, capacity, efficiency and inventory levels. This highly flexible computer-controlled equipment (CNC) will further strengthen our ability to bring new products rapidly to market."
Powerscreen machines screen, sort and wash materials (aggregates, sand, gravel, stone, and coal) into specific sizes so they can be used, reused and sold for further use. Massive machines such as the Powerscreen Chieftain, Warrior and Horizon prepare aggregates for road building and infrastructure projects, especially in Eastern Europe where there is a boom in infrastructure development. Legislation now drives construction contractors to use a certain percentage of recycled aggregates, sand and gravel in building projects in an effort to protect the earth's natural resources. Powerscreen equipment is leading the way in the fight to reduce, reuse and recycle waste. Typical business projects include screening coal in Latvia, iron ore in India and South Africa, limestone in Ireland and washing sand and gravel in Canada.
2007 also sees five new machines being added to the extensive Powerscreen range. As part of the continuing new product development, Powerscreen is launching these machines at Bauma, Munich - the world's largest construction exhibition. The details of these new mobile screens are under wraps until the official launch this month.
These new products will be added to the portfolio of 50 products Powerscreen manufactures giving customers the right equipment to suit their application. New patented technology is used in these new products, which have undergone rigorous testing as part of Powerscreen's impressive R&D programme.
