With Summer upon us I find I hate the cloggy feeling of traditional make-up and have been looking around for something which is light to apply and wear but still covers the blemishes.
In my search I found that foundation which can be applied with a brush and which looks for all the world like blusher is exactly what I wanted. a lot of companies are moving into this field now.
One such product is Bare Escensuals which has been around for almost thirty years. The company was founded in 1976 in Los Gatos California and revolutionised makeup.
Its inventors were a group of cosmetic scientists who wanted something to apply to faces of patients had cosmetic surgery. Because it has 100% pure using minerals with nothing added they found it had healing properties.
Its marketing promos claim that it is "it's a make-up so pure you can sleep in it" so I thought I would try it out.
Simply Beautiful in Omagh is the local stockist of the product and I went to check it out the claims. I am a Max Factor panstick user for nigh on 10 years so I was distrustful of anything which I could not see going on.
The beauty therapist put on my make-up and I was pleased with the result. It certainly went on very easily and I liked the effect. I also loved the range of eye shadow which includes all the sparkly colours currently in vogue.
I was going out that night to a party and the make-up lasted all day and did not wear off.
So it does 'do what it says on the tin' but it is a bit expensive. A starter kit costs £65 which includes brushes, two colours, blusher and finisher. The kit also includes a DVD to show the uninitiated how to apply properly. Simply Beautiful is currently selling the starter kits for £49 for the month of July.
