WITH one of the finest female voices ever to have come out of Omagh, local student Janine McGuigan has recently been awarded her Performers Certificate in Singing by Trinity College of Music, London.

YOUNGSTER

Aged just 17 years old, Janine obtained this prestigious award after she performed a programme of five songs, two in German, two in English, and one in Italian. It is testament to the achievement that this advanced examination is usually taken by much older singers.

Prior to this Janine passed all her Grade Examinations from one to eight with honours. She is also a member of the Ulster Youth choir which performed recently at Proms in the Park and which was shown on BBC1 in September and which will be repeated again on the same channel in December.

STUDENT

As a pupil of Hazel Wand Theatre Group, she was also awarded with honours, the gold medal for acting from the New Era Examination Board, London.

At the moment Janine is looking forward to playing the challenging role of 'Maria' in West Side Story the musical which is being produced by Sister Aengus of Hazel Wand and which will take place in St Joseph's Hall from December 14-17 inclusive.
