SACRED Heart College, Omagh proudly presents its exciting new musical production of 'Little Shop of Horrors' later this month (from Wednesday 22, to Friday 24 at 7.30pm each evening) a comedy which delight the young and old alike.
Brought to life by a largely junior school cast, all of the students involved in the show have been hard at work rehearsing since the start of term, and the school is looking forward to showcasing the amazing talent it has to offer.
Jonathan Kirwan, plays Seymour with "energy" and "enthusiasm" and Jade Campbell plays his beloved Audrey, with Peadar Doody, as Mushnik, and Shane Coyle as Orin Scrivello DDS. The plant is played by Mr Terry McKenna, while the vocal talents of Mr Martin Turbitt promise to be the highlight of the show.
Little Shop of Horros chronicles the adventures of Seymour Krelborn, a poor, geeky young man who works in Mushnik's Flower Shop on Skid Row, which rarely gets customers. Seymour is in love with Audrey, who also works at the flower shop, but she already has a boyfriend - the evil, sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello, DDS.
One day, Seymour finds a bizarre plant that he calls Audrey II, in honour of his unrequited love. The plant attracts business, but when trying to figure out how to nurture it, Seymour discovers it eats blood. He keeps it alive, feeding it his own blood, and as the plant starts to grow, so does its appetite and its demands. By the time it's big enough and mature enough to speak, move and sing, Audrey II persuades Seymour to kill, bribing him with fame, money, possessions and the love of Audrey.
It turns out that the plant isn't just hungry and mean, it came from outer space on a mission to take over the world. How will Seymour save the day? You are invited to come and find out.
The show will be performed in the Upper School Hall on Wednesday 22, Thursday 23 and Friday 24 November at 7.30pm each evening. Admission is by ticket only due to limited space and these can be obtained for specific nights directly from the school office, on 028 8224 2717. Tickets cost £5 per adult and £3 per child.
