McDonnel urges parking opinion

COUNCILLOR Pat McDonnell wishes to remind the Fintona community that a meeting to address the parking issue in the town has been arranged for the Ecclesville Centre tonight (Thursday October 18) at 7.30 pm.

The councillor is anxious that everyone involved in business in the town should attend. All other members of the local community are welcome as well. Councillor McDonnell has also asked for the attendance of personnel from Roads Service Traffic Section and the PSNI.

A recent raid on Main Street by the NCP -the 'Red Caps' - caused great annoyance and the meeting has been called in order to prevent a recurrence of such an event.

In a statement the councillor said, "Local traders are entitled to make a living and we must not allow parking difficulties to damage business in Fintona. The geometry of the main street offers a particular challenge and this is something that the meeting will address. What is vitally important is a good turn-out at the meeting. The council has set up the event at my request and there is no point in staying at home and complaining afterwards. Come along and have your say! There are a number of other issues of general Fintona interest on the agenda as well."
