It was interesting to note the report and picture in (UH, April 12), concerning the continued campaign for proper health care in County Tyrone showed only one of our five elected Assembly members. It is indeed good to see that Dr Deeny is continuing to highlight that "the fight goes on" helped by a hard-working campaign group and one district councillor, Ross Hussey. It is also noted that district Cllr Pat McDonnell promises to be at the new Health minister's door very soon.
The UH of April 12 also carried a letter from a local family lavishly praising the staff at Tyrone County Hospital and indeed the proximity of the hospital itself, in saving their father's life recently.
If our fine elected Assembly members were to campaign together and immediately, we could have our Accident and Emergency department returned and upgraded in the near future. It should be number one priority for all political parties locally.
With a big, big effort we might even get the political decision of Bairbre de Brún to site a new hospital in Enniskillen rather than Omagh overturned.
