Alzheimer's Society - Open 4-Ball Scramble
Omagh Golf Club is hosting a fundraising event in aid of the Alzheimer's Society Omagh Branch on Saturday, April 28 from 8am to 6pm which promises to be a fun day of golf for experience or amateur enthusiasts.
The cost of participating will be £10 per person or £40 per team and there are many prizes to be won. All proceeds from this event will be used to provide assistance to people with dementia, their families and carers in our local community. The Alzheimer's Society Omagh Branch offers a number of services for people with dementia and their carers including:
Outreach Service - The Outreach Service provides information, emotional support and signposting to the relevant services for people with dementia, their family and carers.
Carer Support Groups - Support groups give carers, family and friends an opportunity to meet where they can share their experiences, concerns and problems in an understanding and confidential setting. The support group meets on the fourth Monday of every month at 8pm in Meadowbank Residential Home, Donaghanie Road, Omagh, tel 02882 242868.
Carer Information and Education Programmes - This programme runs throughout the year providing carers, friends and relatives with the opportunity to learn more about dementia and discuss particular issues surrounding dementia including strategies for coping with the illness.
Respite Care - The branch offer limited grants allowing carers to arrange respite care. We also have Day Care Centres available in Omagh and Castlederg, these are open every Saturday from 9-5pm. The Alzheimer's Society exists to respond to the questions and concerns of anyone whose life has been touched by dementia. For more information you can contact us on 02882 240826.
Omagh Gardening Society
The Gardening Society is holding their annual Spring Daffodil Show on Saturday, May 5 in St Coloumba's Church Hall, Omagh.
Schedules available soon in garden centres and florists. Please come along and exhibit in some of the wide variety of categories. As the group celebrates their 50th anniversary this year they hope for a very successful show to mark this event.
Wyresdale Childrens Homes
Doreen McFarland, on behalf of the Childrens Homes in Nepal and India, wishes to thank the Glens Devlopment Committee, Knockmoyle for their very generous donation of £500 raised from a concert in January. Also thanks for £1,500 from the Youth Lottery Forum in SLT, a wonderful gesture and much appreciated.
