IT was a glorious super Sunday for Tyrone school's football yesterday as both Omagh CBS and the Tyrone Vocationals achieved all-Ireland titles.
The Omagh students lifted the Hogan Cup for the first time in the schools illustrious history at Croke Park, comprehensively defeating Munster champions Tralee CBS by 0-16 to 0-7.
At the same time, the Tyrone Vocationals were lifting their ninth national title, their third in the last four seasons, beating their Meath counterparts at St Tiernach's Park in Clones in equally as emphatic manner by 1-12 to 0-8.
With such obvious talent coming through the school's system throughout the County, the future of Tyrone football looks promising with many of these young stars hoping to emulate the likes of Brian McGuigan and Ciaran Gourley who won the Hogan Cup with St Pat's Dungannon in 1997, and former all-Ireland Vocational winners Peter Canavan and Eoin Mulligan in representing the Tyrone senior outfit in the not too distant future.
