AUGHER Stars and Drumquin United both revived their bid for promotion with impressive results on Saturday, most notably when the Stars returned from Derrychara United with all three points.
In a predictably closely fought contest, United let their opponents off the hook midway through the second half when a penalty kick crashed back off the Augher crossbar.
Having survived that scare Augher nailed the win with barely five minutes remaining. Forward Neil Moffatt made the incision on the right and centred the ball for strike partner Graham Booth to finish from six yards out.
At Donnelly's Holm, Drumquin United produced a sparkling five-star performance against Ederney, who entered the game on the back of two excellent victories.
Midfielder Ian Davis opened the scoring by tapping home a Craig Armstrong cross before Shane Cassidy fired home from the edge of the area at the beginning of the second half.
Keith McKinley then headed home a Davis corner kick to make it 3-0 before Cassidy completed the rout and his hat-trick with two further strikes in the final quarter.
Dergview Reserves also moved up the standings with striker Johnny Montgomery netting all four goals in a 4-0 win over Orchard Farm.
Montgomery struck twice in the first half by getting on the end of pinpoint deliveries from the excellent Mark Lecky, who was also instrumental in the striker's third on the resumption to the new half.
And in the final minutes Montgomery capitalised on confusion in the home ranks to complete his four-hit.
Elsewhere, Ballygawley surrendered second place to Enniskillen Rangers who were 2-0 winners at the Co Tyrone venue, while a youthful Fivemiletown United Athletic triumphed 3- 1 over Sixmilecross Bohemians at Cranny Bridge.
Despite falling behind Athletic bounced back with goals from Andy Crooks, Carl Morrison and a super strike by Sean McCaffrey.
