Omagh dentist shortlisted for top National Dentistry Awards

MURRAY'S Dental Practice in Omagh has been shortlisted in two categories for the National Dentistry Awards, 2006. The practice has been nominated in the Best Practice category and dentist Emmet Murray has been nominated as Best Team Member. The Murray's dental team will learn if they have won at a glittering black tie dinner in Leicester tomorrow (Friday).

The news follows the recent announcement that the practice has achieved the prestigious Investors in People standard.

Emmet Murray said, "We are very pleased to have been nominated for two categories. It was highly competitive and this is recognition by our peers which is very rewarding. To be nominated is a great achievement for us and we are delighted with that. Anything more would be a bonus."

Emmet says it is also an endorsement of the work of team members, practice nurse Lisa McFarland and receptionist Dympna Crees.

The judging panel consisted of top members of the profession including dentists, hygienists and practice managers who will be deciding who is the Best Practice, Best Team Member and Best New Practice in Northern Ireland. The competition been divided into ten regions and each regional winner has a chance of being named the best.

These new regional awards were launched this year by the Dentistry magazine and they have been created to recognise outstanding individuals, teams and practices that have an active interest in continuing professional development and staying at the top of the dental profession.

The winners will be announced at the Dentistry Awards ceremony on Friday, December 8, at the Athena - a recently refurbished beautiful art deco cinema in Leicester. The evening is a black tie event with a live 16-piece band and a famous compere.
