I think the new Omagh memorial is an horrendous sight. Viewed from the Dublin Road, all you see is these uprights with squares on the top and another two monstrous supports with glaring squares on the top - more in keeping with supporting a road sign or wind turbine. Nothing very aestetic about these.

I feel this whole project has taken away from the mood of peace and reflection that previously existed in the small memorial garden.

I wonder how the new design will look in ten years times. Will the water still be crystal clear and the surrounds as gleaming as they are in 2008?
