Pensions increase needed today too

I note from the 'All Our Yesterdays' column (Ulster Herald, August 7, page 24) that Cllr Bernadette Grant tabled a motion at the Omagh Council monthly meeting 25 years ago calling on the Minister of Health and Social Services to increase pensions as soon as possible because "many pensioners in the area were suffering genuine hardship due to the high cost of fuel and housing".

I trust that our present councillors will now make representations on behalf of pensioners who are once again suffering severe hardship due to the high cost of living.
