Drumquin play facility vandalised

WEST Tyrone Sinn Féin councillor Frankie Donnelly has condemned what he has described as 'wanton vandalism' in the newly unveiled play park at Drumquin.

Cllr Donnelly said, "In recent weeks I have been receiving reports of a number of young people who have been using the play park as a drinking area at weekends. Not only are many of these young people under the legal drinking age, but there has also been damage caused to the play park. This includes the rubber safety surface, which was damaged by a fire lit in the play area.

"Furthermore, I have been told that youths come from surrounding areas during the weekend to the play park. I am urging parents to be aware of where your children are particularly over the weekends. Such mindless vandalism isn't welcome or wanted in Drumquin."

Santas needed

MENINGITIS Research Foundation in association with Cookstown District Council is holding its 2nd Charity 5km fun run/walk for all the family on Sunday 2 December at 2pm.

Christmas is a special time for all the family but sadly meningitis and septicaemia can affect anyone at any age. Can you help Meningitis Research Foundation continue its vital work?

Each runner will receive a Santa pack containing: Santa suit, sponsor forms, fun run factsheet and life saving meningitis symptoms card.

If knowing that your sponsor money could help save a life weren't enough we will be giving out prizes on the day! Refreshments and goodie bags will also be provided after the Santa Run.

To register for Cookstown Santa Run, please call the Santa hotline on 90 321283, or email sharon@meningitis-ni.org
