Police hunt assailant after woman is attacked
in Omagh

POLICE are hunting for a man who attacked a woman in the Tamlaght Road area of Omagh in the early hours of Sunday morning.

They are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.

At about 3.30am, two women were walking home close to the Ulsterbus garage when a man jumped out from behind bushes and grabbed one of them by an arm. She broke free and both women ran in the direction of Summerdale Court.

A motive for the incident is unclear and the woman was not badly hurt, although she did sustain cuts and bruises.

The assailant is described as being about 6ft and of a slim build with dark, shaven hair. He was wearing a light blue hooded top, and when last seen was walking towards the town center.

Anyone who was in the area and saw the incident, or saw a man loitering in the area beforehand, is asked to contact police in Omagh. The number to call with any information is 0845 600 8000, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
