ST CIARAN's students from Year 8 took part in a sponsored 'Spellathon' recently, raising £608 for MENCAP in the process.
Spellathon is a fun-raising event for schools that aims to improve student's spelling as well as enabling them to learn more about disability and generate much-appreciated funds for MENCAP at the same time.
MENCAP is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and the charity is at the forefront of making a real difference to people affected by disability and affording people the chance to live their own lives in the way they want.
St Ciaran's HS expressed how proud it was to help such a worthwhile charity and MENCAP in turn issued the school with a Certificate of Thanks plus a Spellathon trophy.
The students also received individual certificates and these were placed in their Progress Files. All-in-all then, a fund-raising venture with educational, practical and charitable elements attached to it.
