Ireland's Eurovision entry available for free download

This year's Irish Eurovision entry, They Can't Stop the Spring, performed by Dervish, is now available as a free download on the RTÉ Eurovision website www.rte.ie/eurovision

This is the first time Ireland's Eurovision entry has been made available to the Irish public free of charge as a download.

Julian Vignoles, Assistant Commissioning Editor for RTÉ Entertainment, said, "We are delighted to offer this year's entry as a free download. The decision to offer it as a download as opposed to a CD single reflects the exciting changes that are taking place in the Irish music industry, where downloads are an increasing phenomenon compared to CD single sales. It's also a way of celebrating our involvement again in this huge global event."

The single will also feature on Dervish's new album, Travel and Show, the band's eighth album and it also features The Thought of You by Matti Kallio, one of the other finalists in this year's Eurosong '07 competition.

Dervish are currently preparing for their performance in Helsinki at the Eurovision final on Saturday. RTÉ will be broadcasting both the semi-final and final live; the semi-final will be broadcast on Thursday, May 10 at 8pm on RTÉ Two television and the final will be broadcast on both RTÉ One television and RTÉ Radio 1 from 8pm on Saturday, May 12. Eurovision expert Marty Whelan will be commentating on both events and Irish Eurovision fans will be able to tele-vote in both the semi-final and final.
