EIGHT men were arrested yesterday (Wednesday) as part of an operation against alleged dissident republican activity.

Seven of the men were arrested in Strabane and one in Derry under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

Police say a number of items were recovered during searches of various houses.

The men who were arrested are being held in the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim Police Station.
