Time to enjoy a whole new learning experience

Thu, Aug 16, 2007

THINK fun, think enjoyment, think success, think North West Regional College. That's the message from the newly established further and higher education college, which has brought together the North West Institute and Limavady College, to offer students the courses they want, with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in their chosen career paths.

Along with the new name, the college is offering students a new learning experience, using the latest technologies, studying in modern facilities and learning from expert staff, with support and guidance every step of the way.

WORK REST PLAY ACHIEVE

WORK: Courses are not on a traditional 9am-3.30pm timetable, but involve a combination of individual study and project work directly relevant to career paths. Students must also undertake practical work and take part in visits to an from industry, to enhance their understanding of the world of work.

North West Regional College is committed to providing first-rate study facilities for all students, evident in the investment already made at the Limavady and Derry/Londonderry campuses. Resources will be further improved in the coming years following the £31.6m investment package, awarded to the College by the Department for Employment and Learning.

REST: The college isn't just about modern classrooms, there are also numerous cafe and restaurants where students can take a break from study. If this is not enough, the students union is the place to be to meet new friends, relax and enjoy student life.

PLAY: While students are studying to develop their skills for their future career, they are also encouraged to develop their other talents and to be part of the college community, by playing for a college sports team, being a member of the student council, or taking pat in one of the many clubs and societies.

ACHIEVE: North West Regional College is about getting each student to where they want to be, whether that is university or employment. The learning experience is geared to providing the skills and qualifications sought by higher education providers or employers, and to provide each student with the opportunity to achieve their personal career goals.
