Rainbow Club members will be 'stars'

Orla McCartan who will perform Westlife's 'The Rose'.

Carrickmore Rainbow Club will hold their fourth annual Stars in Your Eyes event on Friday, May 25 in the Patrician Hall, Carrickmore, supported by local artists and followed by disco.

The club is made up of young people with learning disabilities with lots of talent when it comes to performing. The five artists will arrive by limousine supplied by Glendale and the show will be compered by Highland Radio DJ Frank Galligan.

Event organiser Marissa McKernan expressed her gratitude to the recently crowned Tyrone Rose Cliodhna McCallan, and two volunteers of the club, Kathleen Donnelly and Sheena Slane, for preparing the young adults for their big night during the past few weeks.

Doors open at 8.30pm, admission is £5 and all money raised goes towards the running of the Rainbow Club.

Marissa said, "The money raised maintains the ongoing functioning of the club throughout the year, helping those young adults with learning difficulties for social and leisure activities. The money helps with training programmes. At present we are doing a ten week training course in how people with learning difficulties can get more involved with their rural community."
