TOPLINK from Drumragh College in Omagh is calling on local support to help them win some valuable funding from Norwich Union.
Over £500,000 has been made available by Norwich Union, the team behind UK Athletics, to be distributed amongst over 200 grassroots sporting initiatives. Toplink has been selected to participate and could benefit from bronze, silver and gold funding awards and a maximum of £50,000.
Voting will take place on a dedicated website www.norwichunion.com/joinourteam where details of all the local initiatives can be found. Supporters can register their vote until September 16 when the final votes will be counted. Toplink is encouraging the people of the Omagh area to log on and get voting to help them make a real difference in the local community.
The fund has been supplemented by donations from runners who participated in the Norwich Union City v City 10k runs in Glasgow, London and Liverpool in June. A £5 donation to the fund was made by every runner participating via their entry fee.
Tanya Veingard, head of sponsorship, Norwich Union commented, "Norwich Union is committed to supporting sport at a grassroots level, with the aim of getting ten million children active by 2012. And now we're giving the nation the chance to have their say and make local sport the winner.
"By simply casting a vote on our website, it is possible to make a real difference to initiatives by helping them win vital funds to support their work. It's time for people got clicking and join our team."
