ONE of the finest country singles released for Christmas comes from Robert Mizzell. It's an up-tempo original number entitled "A Country Music Christmas" and promises to have everyone jiving wall to wall when he returns to Tempo Community Centre on Friday, January 5.
Last time he appeared in Tempo he had a packed house that really enjoyed his show and this promises to be even better.
Robert has picked up several awards as Top Country Singer and Best Country Band during the past year. These came from Country and Irish Entertainment Magazine, LM FM Radio Awards 2006 and The First National Awards 2006.
The latest 11-track album from Robert, entitled Waltzing With Me, has been one of the best-sellers this year and included two of Robert's earlier hit singles, Dance With Me Father and Louisiana Saturday Night.
The Louisiana born singer now residing in Mullingar who first made the breakthrough with Say You Love Me is packing crowds in everywhere he appears. Ironically 'the big American dream' did not happen in the USA for this very talented singer but right here in Ireland where he has won a hoard of prestigious awards.
Robert's albums that were all a huge success include Hello Mr DJ, Louisiana Man and Lookin' Lucky, which was in fact recorded in Nashville.
The line-up in Robert's band include Charlie Arkins who is a huge Irish star of fiddle and harmonica along with steel and lead guitar player and vocalist Martin Cleary who hails from Belleek. The youngest member is drummer Mickey Midine and completing the line-up is Pat Kelly on bass and vocals and Donnie Duggan on keyboards.
Robert Mizzell's new single, A Country Music Christmas, is receiving very extensive airplay on both national and local radio. You can hear him along with his band, The Country Kings, perform it when he returns to St Mary's Community Centre, Tempo on Friday, January 5. On stage at 11,30pm. Doors open at 10pm.
