GAA- Drumquin Youth Present


Drumquin Wolfe Tones' Youth presentation evening was recently celebrated in the clubrooms. Tyrone senior star Ryan McMenamin was the guest speaker and spoke to the young players about the need to focus on the enjoyment and dedication of the sport.

He stressed that this was a time to have fun and make friends and that the success he has achieved was not something that he achieved at underage level and that anyone could achieve, not only those who were successful from a young age.

Ryan presented awards to a range of winners, from under eights up to under sixteens, both the boys and girls, including several who had represented Tyrone over the past year. Youth Officers Noel Donnelly and Maggie Skelton thanked the managers who had assisted throughout the previous year and all of those who had given their time voluntarily to assist in any way in the organisation of youth activities.

Boys' awards:

Under 8 Player of the Year – Jamie McAleer

Under 10 Player of the Year – Christopher Browne

Under 12 Player of the Year – (Frank Haughey Shield) Brendan Coyle

Most improved under-12 player - (Mark Breen Memorial Shield) Caolan Gormley

Under 14 Player of the Year – (Eamon Harpur Memorial Shield) Niall McAlynn

Under 16 - Player of the Year – Daniel McSwiggan

Presentation in Recognition of representing Tyrone in the U-15 Development Squad – Pearse McGirr

Girls' awards:

Under 12 Players of the Year – Nadine Collins and Shannon Skelton

Most improved under-12 player – Tara-Jane McCrossan

Under 14 Players of the Year – Dayna Collins and Edel Lynch

Most Improved under-14 player – Rachel Coll

Under 16 Players of the Year – Dayna Collins and Jolene McMenamin

Most Improved under 16 player – Charlene McNabb
