Resident Magistrate Jim McFarland has said that an Omagh man who pleaded guilty to breaking glasses and the window of pub 'seems to have turned a corner' regarding his record of offending.
Ivor McConnell (35) of McKinley bungalows was fined £200 and ordered to pay £199.75 restitution.
The court was told the defendant admitted smashing glasses in a bar in High Street, Omagh and subsequently breaking the window pane after being ejected from the premises on August 19 last year.
Defence solicitor Michael Fahy said McConnell had not committed any offences for two years before the incident and for the eight months since. He added the defendant had "taken steps to address his alcohol problem and did not want to return to the dark days of his previous offending."
The defence apologised to the court on McConnell's behalf adding, 'He is extremely contrite and is willing to pay all restitution which is due."
Handing down the fine the RM said, "He seems to have turned a corner from previous offending."
